I started my morning at the New York Historical Society for the Dennis Hannant show. The vibe in the audience was very Park Avenue as ladies decked on in Chanel and Prada, dripping with diamonds exchanged air kisses. Ivana Trump and Paula Abdul were in attendance and sat across the aisle from me in the front row.
The show opened with a dreamy video projection of flowers as the backdrop. The models trotted onto the runway looking like high-society girls, a reflection of the guests in the audience (Hannant definitely has pinpointed his customer!). Many of the silhouettes use of bold color and prints along with the bouffant hairstyles infused the collection with the spirit of the 60s. I could see the likes of Catherine Deneuve sporting some of these looks.

Hannant created a collection that could be flattering on women of all ages and sizes, which is difficult to do while still remaining chic. The color palette was consistent with what we have been seeing on various runways this season. He used vintage-inspired black and white prints, the popular shades of tangerine and apple green that we have been seeing, and wasn’t afraid to do head-to-toe looks in metallic.
