If the Little Mermaid’s, Sebastian sang Under the Sea, it would have made for the perfect summer buoyancy and effervescency of Joy Cioci’s collection. As models showcased her ensembles standing on platforms of sand, to the sound of waves crashing into the shore, guests’ whimsical coos made for an airy morning at Lincoln Center.

Clean, bright faces were washed over the models as most of the hair was slicked back into a delicate lace swim cap.  Finding ourselves in a 1940s whirlpool, many of the designs reflected the antiquity of that era, while meeting the year 2013.  Splashed in pearls and shells, one model wore a crystal lace caftan with macramé lace details.  Others prepared to catch some rays in reef print neoprene demi cup bikini top and reef print high waisted bikini bottoms.
When wearing Ms. Cioci’s clothing, little to no accessories are needed as the outfits are already soaked in oceanic embellishments.  Aqua and white were the main colors of choice.  Most of the materials used included organza, lace, shells, mesh, silk, and chiffon.  Keeping to the rhythm of the waves, this aquatic collection certainly calls for an immediate summer revival.
