The sporty chic trend of the Spring Summer 2013 season was firmly solidified at the Whitney Eve show. The models were glamorous, yet tomboy-ish; they were elegant, yet comfortable; sophisticated, yet undeniably cool. Following Whitney Port’s career from her debut in reality TV, I was excited to see how far she’s come in fashion. Needless to say, the second I heard Lana Del Rey as the music for her show, I knew this was my kind of a designer.

Whitney Eve collection featured lots of prints and lots of color. Standout pieces were the hip hugging mini dresses in bright solid or large print, proper pointed flat-collared blouses, structured jackets in print and full-fringe tops and dresses. The final look was a perfect combination of glamour and fun in a grey fringed gown with lots of movement. The color palette didn’t stay in a specific range, it was all about bright impressive attention-grabbing shades, most striking of which was a light baby blue.
Hair and makeup reflected the Whitney Eve concept of “less is more.” These girls were very well put together, but they avoid looking like they spend hours getting ready to go out. Hair pins and hair ties were left visible and makeup was neutral and light. I left Lincoln Center undoubtedly impressed adding another designer to my list of favorites of the season.
