The Nomia presentation was all about geometry. Looks done in stunning solids and an array of complementing colors ruled the runway this evening. Unconventional shapes of garments somehow made them look futuristic without the usual sleek/metallic theme, yet absolutely wearable.
Colors seen on the runway were: lots of black, olive, ultramarine blue, rose and grey. My utter favorite was the little black dress done with a bright blue collar adding sophistication to the garment and making it appropriate for daytime, as well as a night out. Every outfit that was done in a solid dark shade had a pop of bright color, either on the skirt or a collar.
New Yorkers are well-known for wearing black, so it was quite refreshing to see something current, relevant, yet with a colorful twist. Looks were very structured and simple, makeup was extremely light and hair pulled back into a sleek low ponytail. Seeing lots of fur around Lincoln Center this fashion week, I was also very excited to see exaggerated fur colors and vests as a part of the collection.

The Carlos Campos clones are here to take over Fashion360! The Spring/Summer 2013 collection by Carlos Campos veered away from individuality and presented a concept of similarity and equality. Collection was divided into four groups of five looks each done in a specific color: sea green, white, golden yellow and sapphire blue.

Karlo Karlo, the lead makeup artist talked about the look: “I call it homo-Genius. Taking mod makeup for women, we transform it into a version for men. A very flawless face with neutral lips. We are basically creating clones.”
Looks are very symmetrical, proper and elegant. Each one is done strictly in one shade, head to toe; if the collar is open, models’ skin was spray-painted to strictly match the outfit. Standing out were the trench coats, specifically the sea green symmetric piece with four pockets on the front. As trends for men, I noticed a skinny pant fit and classic straight point collars.
“The concept for this show is a very clean cookie cutter minimalistic style. It will be the same for every guy,” shared Cesar Ramirez, the lead hairstylist for Carlos Campos. Hair was pulled away from the face and slicked back for a perfect mannequin-like do.

Inspired by combinations of royalty and informality, Catherine Malandrino created a chic Spring/Summer 2013 collection with an element of comfort. The main idea behind each garment is to unite delicate French romanticism and easily flexible sportswear.

Fabrics collided in combinations of leather, mesh and grosgrain. Heavy wavy textures also dominated cropped jackets, cropped sweater tops and dresses. The palette was light and pale, contributing to this season’s popular color trend. My favorite was a brighter mint shade, specifically on a long silk pant. Formal dresses with gorgeous embroidered belts were paired with sporty caps giving the overall look a more relaxed feel.
Hair was pulled up towards the front in a futuristic symmetrical style; makeup very neutral with light shimmery shadow and neutral lip. My accessory spotlight would be on the long white link earrings gently falling on the fabric past shoulders. A standout look was a light turquoise satin gown with embodiment on the neckline and a high slit (which seems to be another popular trend of the season!)

The sporty chic trend of the Spring Summer 2013 season was firmly solidified at the Whitney Eve show. The models were glamorous, yet tomboy-ish; they were elegant, yet comfortable; sophisticated, yet undeniably cool. Following Whitney Port’s career from her debut in reality TV, I was excited to see how far she’s come in fashion. Needless to say, the second I heard Lana Del Rey as the music for her show, I knew this was my kind of a designer.

Whitney Eve collection featured lots of prints and lots of color. Standout pieces were the hip hugging mini dresses in bright solid or large print, proper pointed flat-collared blouses, structured jackets in print and full-fringe tops and dresses. The final look was a perfect combination of glamour and fun in a grey fringed gown with lots of movement. The color palette didn’t stay in a specific range, it was all about bright impressive attention-grabbing shades, most striking of which was a light baby blue.
Hair and makeup reflected the Whitney Eve concept of “less is more.” These girls were very well put together, but they avoid looking like they spend hours getting ready to go out. Hair pins and hair ties were left visible and makeup was neutral and light. I left Lincoln Center undoubtedly impressed adding another designer to my list of favorites of the season.
